Art & Design
At Kingsway Primary School, we strive to embed an Art curriculum that engages and inspires children, enables them to express themselves and encouages creativity when producing their own works of art. Creativity is encoraged right from the very beginning of our children's journey. Across school pupils are provided with opportunities to experience a variety of media and techniques, they build on skills and knowledge to make informed choices and learn about influential artists. In Key Stage 2, children are engouraged to think critically about their own work and that of others, working with increased skill and independence.
Following the National Curriculum for Art and Design we aim to ensure that all pupils:
-
produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
-
become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
-
evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
-
know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
