EYFS Team
In FS2, we love exploring number using a range of manipulatives. We have used multi-link cubes to create Numberblocks and represent different values. Then we have sorted them according to their properties and formations. In addition to this we have used Numicon to find one more and less than my number.
Team 1
In Team 1 we have developed our understanding of addition and subtraction. We have used models such as part-part-whole and have tried to identify relationships between addition and subtraction. We have also invested a lot of time learning our number bonds so that addition and subtraction is so much easier! We have also explored how the bar model is another strategy for solving addition and subtraction problems.
Team 2:
Team 2 have enjoyed using money to identify amounts. They have also used it as a way to practise adding and subtracting, with a focus on place vaclue. Following this unit, Team 2 have developed their understanding of multiplication and division. They have used manipulatives to represent calculations and have made solid links with repeated addition. Currently, Team 2 have been learning about measure and using their understanding to reason, problem solve and answer calculations.
Team 3:
In maths we have consolidated our understanding of place value and used this as a basis for helping us add using a column method. We have also used this as a strategy to solve subtraction questions too and have included exchanging. Our next unit was multiplication and division, we used counters to make arrays and used repeated addition to check our calculations. Then we moved onto developing our understanding of measure. We compared lengths and converted them, from metres, centimetres and milimetres.
Team 4:
In Team 4, we have been consolidating our understanding of place value of numbers up to four figures. We also enjoy our Talk Tasks at the beginning of lessons where we get to revisit and grapple with past learning.
